Kilinochchi

A new Regional Office (RO) in Jaffna was established in the year 2010 focussing providing assistance for economic development activities in Northern Province after 30 years of ethnic conflict. In line with the broader objective of establishing RO in CBSL, the RO was engaged in development activities in Jaffna and Vavuniya districts and continued their contribution in reducing regional disparity. In May 2015, another RO was opened at Ariviyalnagar, Kilinochchi covering Kilinochchi, Mulatiyu and Mannar districts.

RO – Jaffna was amalgamated with RO – Kilinochchi in June 2017 in order to provide effective services to people in the region with the use of resources and facilities available at RO – Kilinochchi. With the amalgamation, all 05 districts in Northern Province were classified under the purview of RO-Kilinochchi. Even during the short history of RO – Kilinochchi, RO was engaged in various development activities including awareness, skill and entrepreneurship development programmes and extending usual central banking functions at regional level similarly to other ROs.
